Shelby Bird

Shelby Bird is an associate family and immigration attorney at the Law Office of Sonia Parras, PLLC. Shelby focuses in affirmative and defensive immigration representation as well as humanitarian and family-based representation. Shelby also practices family law in the Iowa Courts.

 

Shelby received her BA from Iowa State University in 2013, studying history. She graduated from Drake University Law School in 2017, serving as a class representative on the Drake University Student Bar Association for two years as well as the Public Relations Chair for one year.

During Law School, Shelby began working to provide legal services to the Des Moines community with the Drake University Law School Legal Clinic, focusing on Juvenile Delinquency and Defense Law. Shelby also provided legal services to indigent clients at the New Orleans Pro Bono Project organizing a pro bono divorce clinic over Spring Break 2015. She is licensed to practice law in Iowa and is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and the National Immigration Project of the National Lawyers Guild. Shelby is also a member of the Polk County Bar Association’s Family Law Committee.
